Preschool Kids

This is my class at preschool. We were taking pictures for a project. Its hard to get 15 kids to stand still and not move, but I think they did really well.

Little Angel House

I don't know what this little house is for. It is too small for anyone to even play in. It sits on the side of the road at the edge of someone's property away from anything else. I do like the angel adornment.

Landmark Booksellers

Landmark Booksellers is a bookstore downtown. They have new and old books, documents, magazines, and art. The balcony looks like a great place to cozy up with a book. When I went on the ghost tour of downtown Franklin, this was one of our stops because the second floor is haunted.

church at the movies - The Gathering

You may not think this is a church but on Sunday mornings, this place is transformed into a church. It is called the Gathering and meets before the theater opens.

Gigi's Cup Cakes

The cupcake craze has hit. They are everywhere. Gigi's Cup Cakes started in Nashville and has opened a location here in Franklin. It's a great place for dessert or an alternative for the birthday cake. They taste very good - lots of frosting and all kinds of flavors.

Friday Night Out - Omikoshi

This is a Japanese garden outside Omikoshi Japanese Restaurant. They have a sushi bar and a hibachi. We go there for special occasions to treat the kids. They love the fire, tricks, and jokes made by the chefs using the hibachi. It is very good and I need to find more occasions to eat here.

Home at the Factory

Someone gets to live at the Factory (an old warehouse). I would love to see the inside of this place. I'm sure that the architecture of the Factory is evident inside like it is inside the shopping areas.

Fall is here

Fall is officially here and the banners have been changed to reflect the season. Now I just wish the weather would change too.

My mission

My mission today if I choose to accept it (like I have a choice) is to leave work as soon as possible and proceed directly to the store and pick up the Halo 3 ODST game and come home immediately. There will be much fighting today, but not between my kids, so I guess that's a good thing. The hardest part of my day will be turning off the TV at bedtime.

St Philip Catholic Church

I think this sign means that there is a service in Spanish for the people who can speak Spanish - which is not me. If I am totally wrong, there is a service here in Spanish.

Riverview

Riverview on Franklin Road just outside downtown was built in 1902. It reminds me of the home of Scarlet O'Hara from Gone with the Wind.

Friday Night Out - Blue Coast Burito

Blue Coast Burito is a great place for ala carte buritos. They are stuffed with tons of great meat, beans, rice, or veges. Of course, we have a blue guitar with a rendition of the Nashville skyline sitting on the patio.

Times have changed

This is a window on Main Street at the entrance to an accounting firm. Not too many years ago these were probably considered state of the art business systems. I just need help with how to take pictures in windows without my reflection being in the photo.

Why a Lighthouse?

Why is there a lighthouse in the middle of a landlocked town? It is actually just an architectural detail of a storage business.

Campbell Westbrook House

This house on Main Street was built in the 1880s. It was lived in by a couple of families until the late 60's. It was then purchased by Eloise O'More who started the O'More College of Design in the house. It is now owned by another family.

Saint Andrew Lutheran Church

Saint Andrew Lutheran is expanding. Many of the churches around here outgrow their space and either move to another property or build a new building on their current site. Saint Andrew is adding to their current property and this is the tall tower at the front entrance. I like the simple architecture with the circles and cross at the top.

This is part of the gated entrance to Wyatt Hall which is a historic house in Franklin. I don't know much about the house but it has a beautiful setting.

which wich ?

I have never eaten here but I love the name. I guess it is a sandwich place?!! Which sandwich? I love places that have outside seating. We have lots of days that cool off enough at night that makes eating outside very enjoyable - and fall is just around the corner.

This is the view at the top of Winstead Hill looking north toward Franklin. This was the command post for the confederate army during the Civil War.

Nissan Plant Tour

About 45 minutes from town in Smyrna is the Nissan plant. It is a fun idea (for kids too - 5 yrs min) to take the tour of the plant. The plant is huge, so you ride in a long tram and see the process from beginning to end. The tour is free and runs during the week.

Service Hat in honor of Labor Day

In honor of Labor Day, this Civil War hat reminds us of the service that people have given for all of America. I don't know what man would have worn this hat, maybe a Chaplain or Red Cross volunteer.

Franklin Church of Christ

Franklin Church of Christ is located on Franklin Road. The building is simple with no windows or adornments. This would make for a nondisruptive worship experience.

Stone Path

Stone path leading out to a garden. Love the sun shining through the fence casting shadows on the ground. This was at one of the houses on the tour I did back in the spring. This house had beautiful grounds around the house.

Friday Night Out - Wolfgang Puck

Wolfgang Puck has alot of restaurants, and we are lucky enough to have this casual place here. This is a great place for families to eat out. All of the food is great. I usually split a salad and pizza. The macaroni and cheese for kids is great, and the rotisserie chicken is good too.
