Friday Night Out - Franklin Mercantile Deli

Franklin Mercantile is a great deli in downtown Franklin. They are now open on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night. It's a great place to go for lunch. Love the interior look with mismatched tables and chairs. And now they also have wine!! It's all good here.

Sweet and Sassy

So, I walked into Sweet and Sassy to get the silly bandz that my son was DYING for. The boys would not get out of the car. I didn't understand until I walked in the door and my jaw dropped. I have never been in this store since I have boys, but little did I realize what a wonderland for girls this was. It was packed with girly stuff. These party girls were ready for their runway debut. Yes, runway - a lighted disco type runway for little girls to strut. Their hair was curled, twisted, and sprayed. Maybe their was makeup. The salesgirl actually tried to tell me they have boy services. Yeah, right, sorry my boys aren't coming.

Silly Bandz Craze

Have you heard about the new Silly Bandz craze? It has hit here big time. They are rubber bands shaped like animals, stars, dinosaurs, or other items. Kids wear them on their wrist and trade them. Just like beanie babies, Pokemon cards, or pet rocks I guess there will always be a new thing to come along and drive us nuts searching and collecting. They aren't as hard to find as Tickle Me Elmo. (remember, that one). And they aren't as expensive as add-a-bead necklaces (had those). And just like the other crazes they won't be around long.

Friday Night Out - 108 Grille

I have never been to this restaurant but think I need to go. It is located in the old jail built in 1905. They are a sports bar serving a unique mix of bar food. They also have a martini bar downstairs, a dart room, and have live music on some nights. Sounds like a fun place on a Friday night.

Carter House - main house

This is the front of the Carter House. There is a two room basement which is where the family and friends stayed during the bloody five hour battle of the Civil War. Can you imagine sitting in a dark, dirt floor room while the house and property are being stormed by gunfire and cannons? As soon as the battle was over, the front rooms were used as a hospital right above the basement. The tour guide was very gruesome to explain how the blood ran down into the basement, and the amputations of the soldiers piled up at the window by the basement.

This is said to be the most damaged building still standing from the Civil War. There are over 1,000 bullet holes on the property. There is also holes from cannons used that day.

Carter House

This is the Carter House property. A major portion of the Battle of Franklin was fought here. The buildings from left are the main house, a farm office, a smokehouse, and a slave house. This slave house was moved to the property several years ago. The other buildings are original to the property.

Firemen aren't so scary

The firemen visited our preschool for fire safety week. Kids get scared in a fire when they see someone dressed like this coming at them. So we show that a fireman is still just a guy dressed up. Maybe one day this will save a child's life.
